Gracie Gold is a Chicago area figure skater who just won the 2012 Junior Ladies National Championship. I had the privilege of photographing Gracie’s skating during an ice show last year, and she put in a beautiful performance. The baton-ribbon created a lot of additional visual interest, however the skating would have stood as well on it’s own without the prop.

I’ve had a pretty good run of photographing skaters in the area who go on to become national champions within a year or two: Evan Lysacek, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, Ryan Bradley, Alissa Czisny, Kelvin Li and now Gracie Gold. I can’t take any of the credit for their success, but if you are an up and coming skater who would like to get some great publicity and memory photos of your action on ice feel free to contact me.
Gracie has had a pretty awesome run of her own, winning gold in all seven of her events this season. Congratulations, Gracie, on a great finish at Junior Nationals, and good luck at Worlds and with the rest of your future career!
